The Perfect 2-Day Udaipur Itinerary

Lakes, palaces, sunsets and a long lazy lunch — how to see the best of the City of Lakes in a relaxed 48 hours, based from the resort.

Udaipur rewards a slow pace, but two well-planned days are enough to see its icons and still have time by the pool. Here is the itinerary we share most often with guests.

Day 1 — Lakes and the old city

Start with the City Palace and a Lake Pichola boat ride, then wander the old-city lanes around Jagdish Temple. Break for a long lunch back at the resort, swim through the heat, and head to Sajjangarh, the Monsoon Palace, for sunset — the finest view in the city.

Day 2 — Gardens, culture and downtime

Spend the morning at Fateh Sagar Lake and Saheliyon Ki Bari, then keep the afternoon free for a spa ritual or an estate experience like cycling or a chef's table. Close with the Dharohar folk-dance show at Bagore Ki Haveli.

Where to base yourself

Staying a short drive from the lakes — rather than in the crush of the old city — means quiet nights and easy days. See our guide to where to stay in Udaipur.

Make it three days

Have an extra day? Add a leisurely morning, a cooking class and a second sunset. Whenever you visit, check the best time to come, then book your stay.
